Remembering our beloved Ms. Gedney

Ms. Gedney's family, students, colleagues, Montara parents and other members of the school community gathered on the morning of June 7, 2017 for a touching memorial and tribute to one of our school's finest teachers.  Ramona Gedney touched so many hearts and so many lives in her time here at Montara.  She was tremendously respected for her passion and dedication to her students as well as to the education profession.  She will be greatly missed here on campus, but she will live on in our hearts and in our community.

In Loving Memory of Our Dear Colleague, Ms. Ramona Gedney

Career Week at Montara

Coding Club Geniuses

Members of the 5th Grade STEM Magnet School participate in an after school coding club on Wednesday afternoons. The students are using the Scratch website, a coding program that was created by MIT. They are learning to create various animated programs with voice, music, and many other special effects.  It is very exciting to watch their imaginations soar!

Programming Dash

The 2nd graders are taking the coding skills they have learned this year on code.org to program Dash the robot to move around the computer lab and complete the commands they give it.  They are learning to "debug" and "test" their code, just like computer scientists do.  Who knows what these kids will be able to do with the technology of the future!

The students in the STEM Magnet program have just begun learning how to code Ozobot to follow lines.  Many more exciting coding opportunities to come!

Hour of Code

In December, during Computer Science Education week, all Students at Montara participated in the Hour of Code, a global event sponsored by code.org to encourage computer science education for all students, especially those underrepresented in technology careers.
