Mission and Vision

Montara's School Vision

Our vision at Montara Ave. VAPA/Dual/STEM Magnet Elementary School is to provide a rigorous instructional program that is based on the Common Core State Standards. We believe that all students can learn. To this end, every student will have access to a challenging core curriculum. All of our staff development activities are centered on the development of research based best practices that will positively impact student achievement in reading, writing and math along with technology integration. We strive to provide a secure environment in a constantly changing world where students develop a positive self-esteem and respect for others and their cultures. Students will achieve success and enthusiasm for learning with the support of parents, staff, and community.

The Montara School Community understands the importance of developing the whole child, therefore, we need to address our school with a broader picture of our students, families and community. Not only do we want to focus on our students’ cognitive development, but also their social and emotional needs. We join together with our community members as a whole to fulfill the following vision as we facilitate the embarkment of the educational careers of our students: The Montara School Community is committed to helping its stakeholders achieve their maximum potential by: - Valuing and developing the whole person: social, emotional and cognitive - Providing opportunities to explore and develop potential strengths - Developing character - Promoting the ability to think critically - Advancing skills needed in a technological world Although we highly value student achievement, we also value getting to know our students and families.
